I finally had the time to sit down a bit and play Far - Changing tides, after finishing the previous game (Far - Lone sails) two years ago. Well, it didn't let me down.

I'm a sucker for post-apocalyptic lone adventures in a grim future or alternative present, and thus playing Far really gave me a lot. Here's a quick description

> When floods ravage your world, captain a ship like no other and search for a new home. Sail stormy waters, dive unknown depths, and explore forgotten ruins on your voyage.

Solving puzzles meet adventuring in a vehicle driven game like no one else. Differently from the first game where the setting was a dried out sea-bed, this one takes place in a flooded world, where you'll need to sail and exploring the depths to find your polar star, or your fog horn (wink wink, but no spoilers)

[Far: Changing Tides - Game detailsFar: Changing Tides is an atmospheric vehicle adventure driven by an emotional story. When floods ravage your world, captain a ship like no other and search for a new home. Sail stormy waters, dive unknown depths, and explore forgotten ruins on your voyage.![](https://digitalvoodoo.eu/content/images/icon/favicon-32x32-BZuBtHTO-13dc6f56-433d-4175-a886-3f4d006ef5f5.png)Questlog.app![](https://digitalvoodoo.eu/content/images/thumbnail/far-changing-tides-38131-66885210-d772-4be9-be78-88ece5070cb2.webp)](https://questlog.app/games/far-changing-tides?ref=digitalvoodoo.eu)

As the previous chapter, the art is quintessential although a bit more refined and with more depth than the previous game (that, in case you didn't know, was a [thesis project](https://magazine.artstation.com/2021/12/behind-the-art-of-far-changing-tides/?ref=digitalvoodoo.eu)!) and doesn't have a single line of text / voice in it. There's no tutorial, no in-game guide, everything is communicated to the player through the gameplay and nothing else and that's mind blowing, because Okomotive stuck to external knowledge of how machine works (i.e. jumping on a bellow to feed more air to a live fire).

According to [How Long To Beat](https://howlongtobeat.com/game/94066?ref=digitalvoodoo.eu) the game can be beaten in five hours and half but even though it seems ridiculous compared to modern games (Baldur's Gate 3 anyone?) these five hours and half will be **AMAZING** and will pass in a blink, following our avatar's adventures - BTW the protagonist is called Toe, although we know this only because it's been revealed by the devs.

Should you play this game?
YES. Abso-freaking-lutely YES.
